4.9 Packaging inspection. Packaging of each item shall be inspected to
determine compliance with the requirements of section 5.

PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging requirements. The requirements for packaging shall be in
accordance with MIL-M-18058.
6. NOTES
(This section contains intended use, acquisition requirements, and information
of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not mandatory.)
6.1 Intended use. The grinding machines covered by this specification are
intended for use in grinding environments where uniform tolerances for size,
roundness and finish on a wide variety of materials is required. This type
machine is versatile in that straight and tapered bores, external and internal
diameters and rotary faces may be ground in one set-up. The designation of
universal is derived from the machines ability to swivel the wheelhead and
workhead.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition
documents should specify the
following:

Title, number, and date of this specification.
Size required (see 1.2).

Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation and,
if required, the specific issue of individual documents
referenced (see 2.1.1 and 2.2).

System of units for measuring and indicating devices (inch-pound
or metric) (see 3.2.1).
Digital readout system, it not required (see 3.2.1.2).
f.
Special digital readout system features, if required
g.
(see 3.2.1.2).
h.
Additional safety and health requirements, if required
(see 3.2.5).
Specify configuration of additional point-of-operation guarding,

if required (see 3.2.5).
Specify and fully describe additional environmental protection
j.
requirements, if required (see 3.2.6).
